What a joy to find good quality Spanish books! I know! Well, we wrote about our recommendations for places to adquire great Spanish books here and we recommended Booklandia, as one of the great places to find them. Since then, we find out more about the owners of this innitiative and their interest in education. So we asked Izzie from Booklandia to answer our questions:

  1. Where do you live? Houston, TX

  2. How do you describe yourself and what you do? I’m a daughter of a Mexican-American Tejano, de la frontera, and a Dominican mother. I am a creative storyteller, musician, and writer. I am the marketing director for Booklandia.

  3. How many languages do you speak? I speak English and 75% Spanish, and a good amount of Spanglish ;)

  4. In which ways are you willing to help community and families (locally and worldwide) I love Spanish and bilingual books, and have a passion for literacy. Any way I can provide books and the momentum for children to read and believe anything is possible I will do just that. I provide community monthly bilingual storytime with music and movement for our local bilingüitos in Houston, and I’m hosting the Booklandia 3000 hours reading en Español challenge this month!
